The purpose of the Anti-Ragging Cell of the JJDC is to ensure compliance with
the provisions of regulations as well as the provisions of any law for the
time being in force concerning ragging. The cell ensures through set
policies, procedures and practices curbing of ragging menace inside the
college premises. Anti-Ragging Cell provides instructions and taking
disciplinary actions to achieve the objective of eliminating ragging within
the Institution. This document provides the details of policy framework for
formulating guidelines, which will enhance the scope for ensuring discipline
and maintaining ragging free campus.
Objectives
- To prevent, prohibit, and redress any and all forms and instance of ragging in the college and to educate the students on the meaning of ragging and what constitutes it.
- To prevent the occurrence of ragging by following regulations and punishing those who indulge in ragging as provided for in these regulations and the appropriate law in force as per the UGC guidelines.
- To keep a constant watch and vigil over ragging so as to avoid its incidence and repetition.
- To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of raging inherent in its perversity.
- To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not be ignored and unpunished.

The minutes of meeting held on 30th Jan 2023 were read
and confirmed. The following points were discussed during the meeting.
- Create awareness among students about the punishment of ragging
- Drug abuse that leads to ragging to be monitored
- Action to be taken to curb ragging in the campus
- Measures to monitor and prevent ragging: It was decided that the committee will form as vigilance squad against ragging for monitoring and supervising the campus and classrooms. It was decided that any incident on ragging if noticed should be recorded on the spot and the student indulging any such activities should be brought to the notice of a concerned person in authority immediately.
Mechanism
Anti-Ragging Committee provides instructions and taking disciplinary actions to achieve the objective of eliminating ragging within or outside the Institution. Ragging is any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness to any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance will be punished immediately.
Anti-ragging committee thrives to redress the ragging cases and complaints received from the students and staff.
The complaint forms are made available with the Convener of the Cell. Aggrieved parties have to fill the complaint form and submit the same along with necessary supporting documents (If any), for further course of action and Redressal.

The Anti sexual Harassment cell has been established to provide a healthy and
congenial atmosphere to all the staff members and students. The cell meets
the following objectives:
- To develop guidelines and norms for a policy against sexual harassment.
- To develop principles and procedures for combating sexual harassment.
- To work out details for the implementation of the policy.
- To prepare a detailed of actions, both short and long term.
- To organize gender sanitization awareness programmes.
The Supreme Court judgment of 1997 makes it obligatory for every employer and
other responsible persons to follow the guidelines laid down by the Court
and to evolve a specific policy to combat sexual harassment in the
workplace. Educational institutions under the ambit of Bangalore University
are bound by the same directive. Following this, Jnana Jyothi Degree College
Bangalore, being committed to uphold the Constitutional mandate ensuring the
above mentioned human rights, adopted the following policy.
Definition of Sexual Harassment
For this purpose, sexual harassment includes such unwelcome sexually
determined behavior (whether directly or by implication) as:
- Physical contact and advances;
- A demand or request for sexual favors;
- Sexually colored remarks;
- Showing pornography;
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature;
Where any of these acts is committed in circumstances where-und of such conduct has a reasonable apprehension that in re victim’s employment or enrolment in the institution whether s salary, or honorarium or otherwise, such conduct can be humili constitute a health and safety problem. It is discriminatory when the woman has reasonable grounds to believe that her ob disadvantage her in connection with her employment or work o including recruiting or promotion or academics when it crea work environment. Adverse consequences might be visited if th not consent to the conduct in question or raises any objection thereto.

JJDC has constituted the Women Grievance Redressal Committee (WGRC), under the direction of the Principal, Prof. Rangashamaiah K.R. The WGRC was established to oversee the effective implementation of policies mandated by the UGC to redress student grievances.
The objective of the WGRC is to redress the grievances of individual students and also of a class. WGRC members ensure that genuine student grievances are resolved as a matter of priority. This WGRC Share a common purpose to learn, educate and collaborate on ideas that have the power to effect meaningful and positive change while fighting the challenges they face.
Unresolved grievances at the departmental and clubs/association levels are referred to the Women Grievance Redressal Committee. To investigate reported cases, if any and submits its report to the disciplinary authority recommending action to be taken against the accused miscreants.

- To equip the female students, faculty and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.
- To provide a platform for listening to complaints and Redressal of grievance.
- To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college.
The cell is responsible for looking into any complaints filed by students and staff about women grievance at college. Depending on the severity of the grievances, the matters are resolved by the committee with the approval of the Principal.

The minutes of meeting held on 17-02-2023 were read and confirmed with unanimity. The members showed full of their enthusiasm to deliver promptly the very purpose of constituting this committee because any delay in Redressal will create much confusion any further increase in grievance.
The WGRC was established to oversee the effective implementation of policies mandated by the UGC to redress student grievances.
The members were happy to learn that the issue if minor complains are dealt by concerned departments effectively and any complaints if not dealt, should be forwarded to grievance Redressal committee.
